Operating a high-volume retail and wholesale hub like Seafood City presents an aggressive environment for physical access equipment. Constant exposure to high humidity, airborne salt spray, and dripping water from wet carts rapidly degrades standard turnstile housing and causes optical sensor misfires. The client needed a heavy-duty pedestrian access control solution capable of preventing unauthorized entry while enduring continuous moisture and heavy morning rush traffic without frequent maintenance downtime.

To address these specific environmental stressors, Bov engineered a customized version of our Seafood City flap barrier turnstile utilizing marine-grade SUS316 stainless steel housings treated with passivated anti-corrosion coating. We integrated IP65-sealed optical barrier sensors positioned at optimized angles to prevent false alarms caused by water droplets or wet clothing. The internal mechanics rely on our proprietary high-torque brushless servo motor turnstile drive, eliminating friction-wear parts and ensuring liquid-sealed mechanical compartments.

Since installation across all primary staff and vendor access points, the client experienced zero sensor faults related to humidity or moisture splash over 18 months of continuous operation. The anti-tailgating turnstile system maintains smooth passage speeds exceeding 38 throughputs per minute during peak unloading hours. Maintenance costs dropped by 65% compared to their previous standard stainless steel turnstiles, establishing Bov as a trusted partner for harsh industrial and humid retail access deployments.
